A Sustainable Approach to Customer Care

Responsible and Sustainable

From the very beginning, Adventure Shetland has been focussed on high-quality, responsible and sustainable small-group tours of the Shetland Isles, Scotland's most northerly archipelago.

Size Matters...

These are small islands, with small communities - but home to big ideas and even bigger adventures! We feel that by providing a more personal experience, your tour or holiday will be all the more memorable and create a lasting impression on you, without causing any negative impact on the islands themselves.

Protecting the Environment

Shetland is famous for its pristine landscapes and environments. As both users and custodians of the islands, it is our job to protect and enhance these, so that future generations can enjoy the same immaculate and unspoilt surroundings that we do.

Rare Species

Shetland is home to a number of plant and animal species which are rare in other parts of the UK, and in some cases even unique to single locations within these islands. We believe that operating in small groups and sticking to our environmental policies, we stand the best chance of seeing these species without disturbing or impacting on them in a negative manner.

Leave No Trace

We always have - and always will - operate to the principles and policy of Leave No Trace. We firmly believe that wherever we have been, there should be no visible trace of our presence when we depart. It's a terrible cliche, but "Take only photographs, leave only footprints" is very much how we operate!

Scottish Outdoor Access Code

On all our tours, walks and hikes we stick to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, ensuring that we have a minimal negative impact on our surroundings, and also on those who live and work in them. We're very lucky to live in a country with such progressive outdoor access laws and it is important not to abuse that privilege!

Supporting Local

We always try to support other locally-owned businesses where we can, for example eating at small, local cafes and restaurants. We are also happy to provide recommendations for locally owned accommodation if required.

Dunna Chuck Bruck

We will do our best to never issue single-use plastics on our tours - anything we do provide to you will be reusable, recyclable or responsibly biodegradeable. We recycle our own waste as much as possible, and regularly partake in beach cleans and other similar events to keep Shetland beautiful.

An Ongoing Journey

No matter how well we think we are doing, there are always ways we can improve or things we can do better. If you have any suggestions please get in touch - your feedback will always be welcome!
